Book Fair

Cornwall Kids Garden

We are looking for parent volunteers to help the garden team facilitate various learning activities for students in grades 2-4. Activities and themes include: planting, garden cycles, pollinators, soil, composting, harvesting, and of course eating! We take classes outside to the garden in fall and spring growing seasons. We also are in need of volunteers to care for the garden over the summer—to help weed and water. No experience necessary!

This committee will plan an event for our Cornwall families. Family Fun Night typically takes place in February.

This committee will coordinate two skating parties-one for K-2nd and one for 3rd-5th -typically in January. Volunteers needed to help plan and execute this event.

Health Promotion

​Working with the school nurse, this committee helps with Kindergarten Registration, Red Ribbon Week, Go for the Greens Day, Vision & Hearing Screenings. The school nurse, Sue Robins, is always happy to have volunteers help with record keeping and copying projects. We are looking for parents to help in any and all of these areas. Even if it’s for only one hour, we can use the help.

Kick Off Breakfast

Coordinates a “Welcome Back to School” breakfast for teachers and staff prior to the start of the school day during the second week of school. Volunteers donate breakfast items and assist in setup and cleanup.

Holiday Shop

The Holiday Shop is held each year to allow the children to independently select and purchase inexpensive gifts for their family and loved ones. Each child receives the individual attention of one of the volunteers who will guide the child to gifts that are within the child’s price range. The PTO needs many “parent elves” to help with this event.

Yearbook

​The yearbook committee documents the school year with photos and puts them together in yearbook fashion. Volunteers are needed to take photos in their child’s class and complete a half-page collage. Don’t worry - instructions are provided!

Publishing Center

Do you want to help but can’t make it to meetings or into school? Cornwall’s Publishing Center needs you to type our children’s stories! This job is done at home on your computer. Instructional examples and paper are provided. Books to be typed will be sent back and forth to school in your child’s backpack. Minimal typing skills required.

Help do something special for our nurses, teachers, custodians, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, and staff during their special days throughout the year. This is a fun committee that needs people to do at-home coordinating and some in-school organizing.

This committee will coordinate the special meal provided to the teachers and staff during the Fall parent-teacher conferences by making phone calls, organizing food donations, setting up, serving, and cleaning up.

Holiday Shop

The Holiday Shop is held each year to allow the children to independently select and purchase inexpensive gifts for their family and loved ones. Each child receives the individual attention of one of the volunteers who will guide the child to gifts that are within the child’s price range.

Shoppers – 3 main shopping trips occur in the fall: Big Lots, 5 Below and Christmas Tree Shop. These trips can be scheduled on days that are convenient for the shoppers. We, also, shop sales throughout the year, especially after Christmas.

Inventory – Once the shopping is done, the items need to be entered in the computer, priced and packed away. Just an hour of your time can make a difference. The inventory is usually done at the school on a school day that is scheduled at the convenience of the volunteers.

Cornwalk 2023

The PTO is looking for some volunteers to help with Cornwall’s biggest fundraiser,
The CornWalk, on October 6, 2023. How can you help?

Main Responsibilities:​

  • Donations: count incoming donations and prepare deposit slips

  • Assembly: create video and speak at assembly explaining what the CornWalk is, prizes, etc.

  • Prizes:  purchase and hand out prizes
